The Pleasure Chest
1448 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60622
Our take
EditorialThe Pleasure Chest's Wicker Park location is now the only remaining Chicago store after all other locations permanently closed. The shop pitches itself as inclusive, education-forward, and queer-affirming, recent reviews back that up: multiple specific staff are named glowingly across recent reviews for non-judgmental product guidance, and customers consistently describe a welcoming atmosphere with regular free educational workshops. The shop carries the full überlube product line. Two friction points worth flagging: one reviewer reports being sold what they describe as the worst lube they've ever used at the highest price they've ever paid; another queer customer specifically reports feeling shamed, embarrassed, and inadequate, recommending against the store for anxious or new-to-the-scene visitors. Best for repeat customers comfortable with the shop's expert tier, and for anyone wanting access to free educational workshops on intimate products.
